We have been informed that fraudsters pretending to be officials of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAE) are contacting members of the CERN personnel to obtain personal data, including the numbers and expiry dates of passports, Swiss legitimation documents and French special residence permits, and to extort money. The Swiss Federal Police authorities (Fedpol) recommend that anyone who has fallen victim to such fraud should immediately file charges  and take the necessary measures to have the documents in question cancelled and replaced.
